Managing Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
This week in my clinical rotation at a Women’s Health OB/GYN office, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of patients, providing me with a comprehensive experience in the field of reproductive health. The week was both challenging and rewarding, as I navigated various aspects of patient care, from assessments to management plans. Below, I will discuss a case I encountered, along with the challenges faced, successes, and insights gained during my time at the clinic.
Challenges and Successes:
One of the challenges I faced this week was managing the comprehensive care of patients presenting with a mix of gynecological and obstetric conditions. Some patients had complex medical histories that required thorough review and a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and management. However, my ability to quickly integrate the patient’s history with my clinical knowledge allowed me to contribute meaningfully to the team’s discussions.
A success for me this week was working closely with my preceptor in performing a detailed pelvic examination and understanding how to accurately interpret laboratory and imaging results to guide clinical decisions. Additionally, I successfully presented a case to my preceptor, discussing the patient’s signs and symptoms, possible diagnoses, and a plan of care.
