Digital Learning Impact

Briefly restate your problem space, methodology, and research questions as you posted and refined them from the previous discussion question in this topic. Considering these components, what is your proposed core design (Note: Focus on the design not the methodology in your response.)? Why have you chosen this particular design? How does the design align with your problem space, methodology, and research questions? What are some advantages and limitations of this design? What other considerations do you have for defending your choice of design for your proposed dissertation topic? Including References.

Answer

Problem Space

My problem space focuses on understanding how digital learning tools affect student engagement and academic performance in higher education settings. The rapid integration of technology in classrooms has created a need for investigating whether these tools enhance learning outcomes and how they interact with students’ motivation and involvement in the learning process. Research Questions

  1. How do digital learning tools influence student engagement in higher education?
  2. What is the relationship between the use of digital tools and academic performance?
  3. What are the students’ perceptions of the effectiveness of these tools in enhancing their learning experience?

Methodology

I have chosen a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data collection. This will involve surveys to assess students’ engagement and academic performance data to observe correlations, followed by focus groups or interviews to gather in-depth insights into students’ perceptions and experiences.

Proposed Core Design

The core design for this research is a convergent parallel mixed-methods design, where quantitative and qualitative data are collected concurrently but analyzed separately. The findings are then merged to offer a comprehensive understanding of the impact of digital learning tools. Quantitative data will come from surveys assessing engagement and academic performance records, while qualitative data will be gathered from focus groups or interviews exploring student perceptions. Why This Design?

I have chosen this design because it allows for both numerical analysis (which can provide broad, generalizable findings) and qualitative exploration (which offers depth and context). The convergent parallel design enables me to understand both the measurable outcomes of digital learning tools and the subjective student experiences, providing a more holistic view of…
