Entrepreneurial Journey Analysis
Select a relatively unknown entrepreneur who runs a small business and critically analyse their entrepreneurial journey using concepts introduced in this module. The project will consist of two parts:
1. An infographic (poster) where you will be visually representing the main life and
achievements (or struggles) of your selected entrepreneur exhibiting storytelling
skills. (20% of the mark)
2. A theoretical reflection on their journey focusing on a number of key questions
outlined below. (80% of the mark)

Entrepreneurial Journey Analysis
For this project, it’s important to choose an entrepreneur whose story is relatively unknown, allowing for a deep dive into their journey and offering a unique perspective on entrepreneurship. Below is a framework for completing the assignment:
Part 1: Infographic (Poster)
For the infographic, you’ll want to present key moments in the entrepreneur’s life and achievements. A good example could be a visual timeline, showing milestones and struggles they faced along the way. Some aspects to include might be:
- Background: Include their origin, education, and key experiences that led them to entrepreneurship.
- Founding of the Business: The motivation behind starting their business and the challenges they overcame.
- Growth Milestones: Notable moments when the business expanded, overcame obstacles, or gained recognition.
- Personal Struggles: Any personal challenges they faced (e.g., financial struggles, family pressures).
- Impact and Legacy: Long-term effects of their business, whether on the local community, industry, or beyond.
Part 2: Theoretical Reflection
Here you will analyze the entrepreneur’s journey using key concepts introduced in the course. Here are some questions you might want to address in your analysis:
- Motivation to Start the Business: What drove the entrepreneur to create their business? Was it necessity (push) or opportunity (pull)?
- Theories to consider: The Push-Pull Theory of Entrepreneurship, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (for motivation), etc.
- Innovation and Risk-Taking: How did the entrepreneur take risks and innovate within their field? What were some of the critical moments where innovation was required to sustain their business?
- Theories to consider: Schumpeter’s Theory of Innovation, Risk-Taking and Uncertainty Avoidance.
- Leadership Style: What leadership style did the entrepreneur exhibit? Was it autocratic, democratic, or laissez-faire? How did this affect the development of their business?
- Theories to consider: Transformational vs. Transactional Leadership, Situational Leadership Theory, etc.
- Challenges and Struggles: What challenges did they face in scaling their business, and how did they overcome them? Were these challenges financial, cultural, or related to…
