Supporting a patient facing an ethical dilemma requires a compassionate and culturally competent approach, especially when considering their worldview. Worldview includes a person’s beliefs, values, and experiences, all of which influence how they approach healthcare decisions. When a patient is dealing with an ethical dilemma, it’s essential to provide care that respects their spiritual and cultural perspectives while ensuring that their choices align with their personal values. One way to support them is through active listening, ensuring that the patient feels heard and understood, regardless of their decision (Puchalski et al., 2014). Additionally, offering guidance without imposing one’s own values is crucial.
