The Capital Riot, also known as the January 6th Capitol Insurrection, was an attack on the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., that took place on January 6, 2021. It occurred during a joint session of Congress, which was convened to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election, confirming Joe Biden’s victory over incumbent President Donald Trump.

On that day, a large group of supporters of President Trump gathered for a rally near the White House.
